Why does work feel joyful and effortless one day and feel like pulling teeth the next?

Today has been one of the latter days.

Here’s what happened and what I’m doing about it.

Today has been frustrating.  Frustrating because I have not accomplished what I intended.  I had expectations when I woke up this morning about what I would get done and today has been just – off.  The previous three days I have felt relaxed and open.  My thoughts flowed easily from brain to the computer.  Today I have just felt mentally constipated.  I have not been able to communicate or articulate my thoughts clearly.  I’ve been more distracted.  I’ve been less than pleasant with my wife.  Just an all-around frustrating day.

So I am giving myself permission to not “crush it” today.

I acknowledging that I have accomplished some tasks today.  I am further along today than I was yesterday.

I acknowledge that success does not miraculously happen overnight and that there will be days where I will be frustrated with my progress, or lack thereof.

I am going to give myself permission to transition to a task that is easy and enjoyable for me – to research and study.  I am going to get through a few more chapters of Robert Cialdini’s book “Pre-Suasion” and take some solid notes on things that will be useful to me later on.

Then I’m going to break my 10-day keto diet with a delicious pizza and a beer and hang out with my wife and kids.

Then I’m going to get up tomorrow and start fresh.
